As this is made from natural materials, over time the inserts will naturally adopt a patina, giving an old "penny" effect. Here at Kipper McCoy we love this but please feel free to follow our included care guide to polish your insert for a high shine finish if you wish.

We'd like to tell you a little bit about how it is made.

First we select which material we are going to use, Copper, brass or aluminium. Then the image is copied onto the metal using a handheld embossing tool. Then the design is turned over and we begin working from the back, pushing the metal out to create a 3D effect. The work is then flipped back over and we work from the front to create definition. This process is repeated on all areas of the piece until the whole design is complete. A time consuming process, but worth every second!

Then the back gets filled in to secure the design in place and prevent collapsing.

Meanwhile the wooden frames are hand shaped using  a router, hand sanded and oiled.

The hanging element is then attached.

Before the two come together, the insert is hand polished.
